John Locke Essay Competition
John Locke Essay Competition is organized and founded by John Locke Institute. This institute is named from the famous 17th century philosopher John Locke and gets academic support from Oxford University and Princeton University. The John Locke Essay Competition covers seven disciplines: Economics, Law, Politics, History, Philosophy, Theology, and Psychology,. It invites students to explore and discuss in-depth and interesting topics, and to cultivate their writing skills. At the same time, the competition gives students the opportunity to explore in-depth knowledge, explore the structure of knowledge and research methods in different disciplines to enhance their independent thinking ability, clear logic and dialectical analysis, and thus improve language output.

EPQ (Extended Project Qualification)
The EPQ(Extended Project Qualification) is a non-examination course highly recommended by the UK Department of Education and the Higher Education Admissions Service (UCAS) for accreditation of research studies. EPQ requires students to choose a topic of their own interest for research studies under the guidance of their teachers, then summarize the process and results of their studies into an English article of no more than 5,000 words, or 1,000-word English article plus a demonstrable project (for invention, creation, etc.), and finally a 15-minute defense. After assessment, the student will be awarded an EPQ certificate, grading maximum UCAS 28 credit points.

It is the only selection program since 2011 that invites Chinese high school students to Harvard campus as exchange students during the semester. It selects only from HSYLC summit with less than 1/10 direct admission quota (9 days exchange activity in middle November of each year).
